Aela the Huntress is first encountered fighting alongside Farkas and Ria, fighting a Giant just outside of Whiterun.

When spoken to, she says she is part of the Shield Brothers and if you are interested, speak to the leader of The Companions. Aela is a werewolf which is discovered during the Companions quest line. She wears Ancient Nord Armor.

Aela becomes a potential marriage candidate, but only after completing the Companions quest line. She is a great bow user making her the ideal companion for a Dragonborn inclined to close combat and at close range combat she can easily kill enemies.

Once the Dawnguard DLC is installed, should the Dragonborn have been cured of being a Werewolf can approach her to receive the Gift a second time. She admonishes the Dragonborn for being fickle, but will pass the blood on again if they so choose.

Aela becomes available as follower after Glory of the Dead.
