The High Elves, also commonly known as Altmer are a race of Elves which reside in the region of Tamriel, among the High Elves, there are another nine possible playable Races within Skyrim, however the High Elves are famous for their amazing magical abilities. The High Elves, or Altmer try their utmost to follow their ancestors which are the Aldmer in as many ways as possible, namely though, through traditions involving Marriage and Reproduction. High Elves are among the tallest of all of the humanoid associated Races, they are taller than most Humans and other Meri Races. The skin of the Altmer has a slight Golden tint to it, whilst remaining pale at the same time, however not as pale as the northern Human races such as the Nords or the other Imperials, but far lighter than that of the Bosmer. They are slender, with prominently pointed ears and almond-shaped eyes.
Altmer/High Elves are, on average smaller than humans in body size, which means that in general they are not as strong. Being very tall creatures, this makes them less Agile than the Bosmer, and therefore more vulnerable. Altmer are among the most intelligent and magically skilled races within Nirn, which surpass even the Bretons in magical ability. Magnus, the God of Magic is strongly tied between these Races which also gives the side effect of the Altmer being targeted with more magical attacks than most other races around Skyrim. However, through decades of selective breeding, the High Elves have inherited an extremely strong defense system against disease, almost as superior to that of the Argonians.

Altmer Religion
The religion followed by the High Elves/Altmer form the main base of the religions followed by other races within the continent, this is mainly because the Altmer being so widely accepted as a civilization by the humanoids. It is generally assumed that the Altmer pantheon derives directly from the original gods of the Aldmer, and was nearly identical to that of the Ayleid that ruled central Tamriel before the Alessian revolt.
Nirn is the Mortal Plane, which is made up of nine of the Aedra which also makes up the larger Altmer pantheon. The Altmer mainly worship the few Aedra whom managed to remove themselves from the creation process which saved their divinity just in time, however there were a few exceptions. Akatosh is revered much like in most other Tameielic religions, however it is better known as Auri-El and is, in principle, their chief diety. Most Altmer and Akatosh were a major part of the creation process until it ended, which made them so severely weakened from their original form. The Altmer followed the teachings of the Trinimac, whom was the champion of the Elves and still had the ability to wander around Tamriel during it's Mythic Era. Other key divines in their pantheon include Magnus, who is the source of magic on Tamriel, and Phynaster, who is the patron god of the Summerset Isles, and also whom the Altmer claim taught them to live much longer lives (by taking shorter strides).
Lorkhan is a divine god within Skyrim, however unlike the other races don't acknowledge Lorkhan as a god, but respect his divinity as a god of humanoids. The vast majority of the High Elf/Altmer history has been destroyed by wars between Trinimac and his elves and Lorkhan and his human army. According to the High Elves, Lorkhan is an evil, untrusting and incredibly shifty being whom unfairly tricked the Aedra into carrying out his great plan for creation. As the elves believe themselves to be direct descendants from Akatosh, they blame Lorkhan for the loss of their divinity. There is a big difference between the theories is that the humans believe they are created by the Gods, but aren't descendants of the Gods. Trinimac mysteriously disappeared towards the end of the Mythic Era, supposedly he was eaten by the Daedric Prince Boethiah. There was an enormous decline in the domination of Religion and Culture across Tamriel within the Altmer race during the start of the First Era and in the Present day, the Altmer which reside outside of Summerset are more likely to worship the Gods of the Nine Divines rather than their own Gods for unknown reasons.
