Ancano has bested the Arch-Mage and locked himself in a barrier. Mirabelle asks the Dragonborn to find the Arch-Mage who was blasted out of the Hall of Elements.
Walkthrough[ | ]
Find the Arch-Mage[ | ]
Head out the the Hall of Elements into the courtyard. You will see the members of the college outside. Speak to Tolfdir and he will tell you that the Arch-Mage has succumbed to his wounds and passed on. He will also inform you that whatever Ancano is up to is causing some trouble in Winterhold. He will ask you to assist them in defending the town while the rest stay and try to get to Ancano.
Protect the Town of Winterhold[ | ]
Head towards Winterhold. If you want you can stop to speak to Faralda to get her and Arniel Gane to come along and help. When you near Winterhold, you will be given a new objective.
Defeat the creatures infesting Winterhold (10)[ | ]
There is a swarm of Magical Anomalies in Winterhold. It is suggested that you let Arniel run on ahead and start attacking the Anomalies with his fists. He is very tough and will do a fair job distracting them for long enough for you and Faralda to dispatch them. Once all the Anomalies are dead, head back into the college to find Mirabelle.
Report of Mirabelle Ervine[ | ]
You will find Mirabelle and the others in the Hall of Elements attempting to contain the growing ball of power surrounding Ancano and the Eye. Speak to Mirabelle and she will tell you to find the staff as it is the only thing that can stop this. Tell her you are off to Labyrinthian and she will give you some items that the Arch-Mage left her for safekeeping, namely Savos Aren's Amulet and more importantly the Torc of Labyrinthian that will unlock the huge gate there, previously locked. Take the items and head on off.
