Eorlund Gray-Mane is not actually a member of The Companions helping them out as master of the Skyforge. His age is unknown but he is old enough to have known and served quite a few Harbingers according to Kodlak.
He reforges Wuuthrad in order to let the Dragonborn access Ysgramor's Tomb and save the spirit of Kodlak from Hircine's clutches. He is regarded as one of the best blacksmiths in Skyrim.
