Walkthrough[ | ]
Having killed the real Gourmet and obtained his writ of passage, the Dragonborn is ready to impersonate the chef.
Report to Astrid[ | ]
The first step is to report to Astrid at the Dark Brotherhood Sanctuary where she outlines the plan and gives the Dragonborn a Jarrin Root to be used to poison the Emperor.
Report to Commander Maro[ | ]
The next step is to travel to Solitude and show the writ of passage to Commander Maro in order to gain entry to the Emperor's tower at Castle Dour.
Report to Gianna[ | ]
Once inside, the Dragonborn reports to the resident chef, Gianna in the kitchen.
Report to Gianna while wearing a chef's hat[ | ]
It is useful to look the part of a chef, so the Dragonborn must don a Chef's Hat.
Make the Potage le Magnifique[ | ]
Gianna then asks for advice making the Gourmet's signature dish, "Potage le Magnifique". The choices are unimportant except for the last minute addition of the Jarrin Root, which is crucial.
Slipping in the poison, the Jarrin Root, as last ingredient is actually optional. Since the Emperor can be killed by any means.
Follow Gianna to the dining room[ | ]
Once the potage is finished, the Dragonborn then accompanies Gianna to the dining room to serve the stew.
Kill the Emperor[ | ]
As soon as the Emperor eats the stew, the poison takes effect and the man is killed.
He is wearing the Emperor's Robes that can be taken.
Escape the Tower![ | ]
The Dragonborn must then make a hasty exit.
Return to the Sanctuary[ | ]
Once outside, travel back to the Dark Brotherhood Sanctuary only to find out that the man who was just poisoned was not in fact the Emperor, but a decoy.
