Garmr is one of two known named Death Hounds who lives in the vampire stronghold known as Castle Volkihar. The other is known as CuSith. They patrol the castle and keep company with the resident vampires as pets.
They are both slain in the final battle at the castle by warriors of the Dawnguard, should the Dragonborn have not have sided with the vampires.
