Helgen

Helgen is the Imperial-controlled town where the storyline begins. It is located south of Riverwood at the southern edge of the Throat of the World. It is destroyed by the dragon, Alduin just as the Dragonborn is about to be executed.

Within the walls of Helgen is a fortified stronghold. This is the first area that the Dragonborn can loot after being freed by either Hadvar or Ralof.

If your character enters Helgen immediately after escaping the dragon attack, nothing will have spawned.

If your character returns to Helgen at any point after it was destroyed by Alduin in the opening sequence, you will find it almost completely destroyed by fire and overrun by bandits.

In the assumed to be tavern upstairs, a unique kind of Nord Mead can be found, titled 'Mead with Juniper Berries'. This is a reference to Ralof making an offhand remark, wondering if Vilod, the owner of the tavern, "Still makes that Mead with Juniper Berries mixed in".
