Isran is a Redguard warrior who leads a vigilante group of fighters known as the Dawnguard. He is the most vindictive and relentless enemy of vampires known in all of Tamriel, and has a long history of combating the undead. He is a former Vigilant of Stendarr, who became impatient and dissatisfied with their methods and rate of success in waging this war. Thus, with other, similar individuals he assembled the Dawnguard and took possession of the fortress which bears the same name.
Isran himself led the final charge against the Vampire Lords of Castle Volkihar, alongside the Dragonborn (whom he recruited into the Dawnguard) and one of the enemy's own, the dissident Vampire Lord Serana, daughter of Lord Harkon.
