Mercer Frey is the current master of The Thieves' Guild. He leads their operations from beneath the city of Rifteninside the ragged Flagon. He took over the guild after Karliah murderd the previous master, Gallus Desidenius. It was later revealed that he was Galluses murder and framed Karliah for the murder. Mercer is also directly responsible for the decline of the Guild by stealing the Skeleton Key from Nocturnal's shrine. This blocked the path to the Evergloom and prevents Nocturnal from blessing the Thieves with the uncanny luck they need to ply their trade.
