Proventus Avenicci is the Imperial steward of Dragonsreach.
He can sell the Dragonborn a home for 5000 
and is also the reward giver for several quests. His daughter, Adrianne Avenicci, is the local blacksmith.
If Whiterun is lost to the Stormcloaks during the Civil War he is replaced by Brill.
