Walkthrough[]

Strolling along the Windhelm docks the Dragonborn may stumble into a branch of the East Empire Company. Orthus Endario excuses the dilapidated state of the premises, explaining that pirates have pretty much destroyed the business here.

Orthus Endario suspects his direct adversary Suvaris Atheron of the Clan Shatter-Shield Office being involved in an underhanded deal with the pirates, and hopes the Dragonborn will help investigate the matter.

Steal Suvaris Atheron's logbook[]

Enter the Clan Shatter-Shield Office and "organize" the meticulously detailed Suvaris Atheron's Logbook.

Give the logbook to Orthus[]

Return to Orthus Endario with the logbook. A study of the information therein indeed uncovers dealings with the pirates. More research needs to be done up in the very north of Skyrim though.

Talk to Stig Salt-Plank[]

Journeying to the Windpeak Inn in Dawnstar the Dragoborn encounters Stig Salt-Plank. To get the required information about the pirate operations there are three possible paths:

  1. Simply pickpocket Stig to obtain the Blood Horker Orders.
  2. Brawl the captain for the information.
  3. Or bribe him with 579 Gold (at L58).

Report back to Orthus[]

Return to Orthus Endario at the East Empire Company in the Windhelm docks. From this point on the Imperial Adelaisa Vendicci takes command of the situation. With the information where the pirate enemy is located, the Dragonborn is pretty much drafted in to help see the operation to its conclusion.

Depart for Japhet's Folly[]

The Dragonborn then needs to tell a soldier next to the waiting ship in the docks that the operation can begin.

Talk to Adelaisa[]

The Dragonborn departs for Japhet's Folly, a small icy island in the very north-east of Skyrim. But all is not well: Adelaisa and her Imperial troops are hesitant to confront the powerful mage Haldyn, who is running the whole pirate operation. And so the Dragonborn is sent in to clean up.

Kill Haldyn[]

Entering via the Sea Cave, the back door of the castle complex on the island, several Blood Horkers stand in the way. After entering the Japhet's Folly Towers it becomes clear that Haldyn resides at the very top of the tower. After killing the mage, the island is attacked with some form of artillery.

Report back to Adelaisa[]

Down at the docks of the island Adelaisa thanks the Dragonborn for the help. After killing the mage the strange fog surrounding the island lifted making the operation very much easier.

Speak to Adelaisa to return[]

The Dragonborn may decide to explore some more, but when ready to leave a quick talk with Adelaisa returns the Dragonborn back to the Windhelm docks.

Speak to Orthus[]

Orthus Endario will be very thankful to the Dragonborn, for clearing up the mess with the pirates. And pay a substantial reward in gold. The scruffy Adelaisa Vendicci will be impressed by the Dragonborn's performance.

Notes[]

  • Once the quest has been finished the Warehouse at the docks and also the East Empire Company branch in Windhelm will get in new stock. Some of it can be taken.
  • The ship the Dragonborn sees in the docks, before leaving for Japhet's Folly is actually very much smaller than the one when arriving at the island, i.e. later the ship has a cabin on deck, with a locked door requiring a key.
