The Skyrim Anniversary Edition was released on the tenth anniversary of the original game on November 11, 2021 for PC, PS5/PS4, Xbox Series X/S and Xbox One. The news was announced during a live presentation at QuakeCon 2011.
The Anniversary Edition consists of:
- a new edition of the Skyrim Special Edition and
- an Anniversary Edition update.
In addition to the three official expansions Dawnguard, Hearthfire, and Dragonborn, the new edition includes another 48 mods currently available in the Creation Club, as well as 26 previously unreleased mods with new quests, dungeons, bosses, weapons, and spells created by both Bethesda and community developers.
Owners of Skyrim Special Edition on PS5 and Xbox Series X/S, as well as Xbox Game Pass subscribers on Xbox Series X/S, will receive a free upgrade to an enhanced version for their respective consoles on November 11. In addition, current and future Skyrim Special Edition owners on all platforms, including Xbox Game Pass subscribers, will receive access to four pieces of free Creation Club content:
- Fishing (Gameplay)
- To obtain food, you can fish in many waters of the area with the new fishing mode over 20 unique species. You can prepare a meal from them, make a trophy, or display them in your own aquarium. Many of the fishing spots in Skyrim are located in the most breathtaking and tranquil places in the region. While fishing, you can pull scrap or even valuable items out of the water, in addition to fish.
- Survival Mode (Gameplay)
- Through the survival mode already released in 2017, you must deal with the elements of Skyrim to survive. Thus, you must wear warm clothes and take shelter in cold areas to avoid freezing to death and watch out for hunger and exhaustion in addition to the usual threats such as pesky bandits and attacking dragons. In Skyrim there is plenty of food to harvest (or loot), armor suitable for the weather, and even taverns where you can rest when you are tired.
- Saints and Seducers (Quests)
- This creation, originally released in 2019, offers an additional storyline in two quests (with side quests). With additional armor sets, weapons, enemies and much more to discover, Saints and Seducers offers a lot of content.
- Rare Curios (Items)
- The Rare Curios creation included in "Saints and Seducers" brings additional goods from all over Tamriel to the Khajiit caravans in Skyrim. If you have enough coins, you can purchase all sorts of useful goods from these merchants, including ingredients for making special potions, arrows, and poisons.
In the Anniversary Edition update there are additional 70 mods, which are downloaded from the Creation Club after activation.
