Skyrim Wiki

I beat Oblivion on both the Xbox 360 and on the PC. On the PC, I enjoyed its massive 3rd-party modification community for years. Only after Skyrim was released did my enjoyment of Oblivion peter out.

Now, I'm playing Skyrim on the Xbox 360, because there, I do most of my gaming and because I don't presently own a PC that will handle Skyrim's PC version. Therefore, I don't have access to the modding community that is already appearing around it. However, I'm extremely hopeful that a serious helping of downloadable content will shortly be available for the Xbox 360 version.

Is there any means by which we can encourage the developers to speed this process, or, hoping against hope, release a version of the content creator (as traditionally available for the PC platform) for the Xbox 360?

Here's hoping that, several months after the release of Skyrim, some in-game downloadable content will shortly be available. I'm jonesing for it already. I've digested virtually all of the game's present content, and knowing the potential of the game I can't imagine that something isn't coming soon.

Fortunately, the Dawnguard DLC has indeed been released and I must note that some modifications that have been developed in the PC Skyrim modding community have seen light in the new content for the Xbox 360 version, at least as inspirations if not in fact the same code. I'm exceedingly happy to be able to make my own arrows, and absolutely love the Dragonbone weapons, especially the bow. The arrows are of course the best.

I have also particularly enjoyed the Hearthfire DLC and have built my first homestead at Lakeview Manor, adopting kids and getting everything done one can do there. My house has three towers: arcane, alchemical, and a library. I quite enjoy it. Now, on to the other two homesteads to see what I can do.

At this writing, October 16, 2012, I'm closing in on one year with the Skyrim Wiki community, half of that time as an administrator. It's been a very positive and educational experience, and I have no doubt I will carry it with me into the creation and management of another wiki somewhere on the web. Many thanks to Game widow for welcoming me and bringing me aboard.

Deleting articles with bad titles[]

Administrators are the only ones that can actually delete articles, however, if you find an article with a misspelled title, you can move it to the correct spelling using the move function you will find in menu under the little down arrow next to the search box. This will retain the page's editing history, while allowing the correction of the title. Please let me know if you have any other quesitons. -- Wynthyst User Wynthyst sig icon.png talk 06:15, 6 February 2012 (UTC)

Skyrim & Elder Scrolls Fan Fiction[]

I'm beginning a piece of fanfic based on the world of Skyrim with a little bit of reference to events and characters from Oblivion. It's my intention to create a fanfic page for quality Skyrim & Elder Scrolls fanfic and even art, if people will submit it. Please supply some feedback regarding this idea so I can determine if there's any demand.

I don't know if there's any demand, but there's no objection. — Game widow (talk) 10:45, 21 June 2012 (UTC)
There's evidently no demand. Apparently, there's been no fiction released as often tied in with vidgames, either. So, I'm just going to leave this here in case it changes in the future. In the meantime, there's no reason to dedicate any time to it, although I did begin a story.jhfurnish (talk)

Arnie jokes[]

While funny, those should be kept to your user page, not the wiki character pages. — Game widow (talk) 19:49, 22 April 2012 (UTC)

You're the Admin, but I thought I had made a simple, flat statement that he was the person who voiced this and many other characters, which is in fact true. There was nothing about the edit that smacked of a joke. For example, I also added that Argeneir (spelling), the leader of the Graybeards, is voiced by Christopher Plummer.

But as they said back in the day, "you are a lord, so I must give you the road."

If you can find evidence that it is in fact Arnold, then great. I've not seen any documentation suggesting the did any voice work in the game. — Game widow (talk) 18:27, 23 April 2012 (UTC)

I'm going to have to concede. Apparently, it's Vladmir Kulich. I could swear he was in the credits in my copy, I don't know why I think that. However apparently they have a Czech-Canadian voicing Nords. Now I can't make fun of Arnie when he says, "Ah, you like tha leathah."

If it's any comfort, i agree completely that it sounds a heck of a lot like Arnie. — Game widow (talk) 10:36, 24 April 2012 (UTC)

Welcome back[]

Glad to see you've come back :) — Game widow (talk) 11:23, 19 June 2012 (UTC)

Yes, I'm back, been trying to fill in some cracks here and there. I like tha leathah. Also, I managed to come up with articles I could add. I see a stub here and there and I know I can add something to it. I've been with the series so long I know lots of lore. I wish they'd release some fiction. Have they released any books for this series? - jhfurnish

One more thing: WTF izzit with all these false accounts that apparently had to be deleted? What's going on? Someone trying to hack or vandalize? - jhfurnish

Yeah those are spambots, i do what i can to get rid — Game widow (talk) 11:29, 20 June 2012 (UTC)
As for lore, if you check the wanted pages, there are a number of lore articles we need and i don't know much of the lore, i've only played Oblivion and Skyrim. — Game widow (talk) 12:18, 20 June 2012 (UTC)
If you are interested, we also need lore information on The Elder Scrolls Online wiki, and i'd be happy to give you admin rights there as well :) (as incentive, you know!) — Game widow (talk) 21:08, 2 August 2012 (UTC)
I don't think I can commit to anything more like this at this time. Feel free to paste my stuff over. Btw, considering the recent vandalism I just scrubbed, has anyone ever thought of restricting editing access from anyone but vetted users, or is this a serious violation of the wiki philosophy?--jhfurnish 03:42, 6 August 2012 (UTC)

It's generally frowned upon in wiki culture, and the level of vandalism here is actually not that bad (frustrating, i know). A compromise would be restricting access to only those who log in, but that doesn't stop vandalism, as you've seen. — Game widow (talk) 12:04, 6 August 2012 (UTC)

Pages (in particular new ones) which don't use an item or npc template need to be categorized. On a positive note, i'll soon have the PC version of Dawnguard and can get some decent images — Game widow (talk) 12:36, 9 August 2012 (UTC)

Got it, I looked at how you do it and will remember to employ that script in the future.--jhfurnish 04:08, 10 August 2012 (UTC)
Thanks a million! — Game widow (talk) 22:08, 10 August 2012 (UTC)

A Scroll for Anska[]

I'm not sure why you deleted that page. I've restored it, but let me know if i've missed some essential point you were making. — Game widow (talk) 20:00, 2 January 2013 (UTC)

Sorry if this was inappropriate. It seemed to be outside the realm of an 'article' and I had had the sense that 'walkthroughs' and solutions belonged on community pages. - jhfurnish
We have a whole quests category, so i'd say walkthroughs are ok. That one is very short, admittedly and could use a bit of fleshing out — Game widow (talk) 18:25, 3 January 2013 (UTC)

Active effects[]

I've scrolled through the wiki for a while now and noticed that there Isn't an anctive effect page(s)? Would anyone have any issues with me putting up details of them and how they are aquired?

Also they will be the first pages on a wiki I will have done (If i can) so they might be a bit sloppy.

It sounds like a really good idea whose time has come. Indeed, I've never thought of it. It would of course encompass all kinds of things, to the effects of items to certain shouts to blessings from shrines... to things like lover's comfort or whatever it is from sleeping next to your spouse. Have at it! - jhfurnish
Agreed. I'm happy to fix up the wiki markup once the content is up. — Game widow (talk) 14:03, 12 February 2013 (UTC)

Give me a week for internet to be installed at home then I can crack on with the research and putting up the content, thanks for the support :-D.Farsight2522 02:28, 13 February 2013 (UTC)
